Why didn’t the Carnegie Speech software recognize what I said?

In some cases, the recording quality may not be adequate for analysis by the software not recognizing what you said.

 

The recording quality may be poor due to:

  • Using the built-in microphone in a laptop instead of a headset microphone
  • The sound settings have two or more microphones activated
  • Using a headset without noise reduction technology
  • Faulty/noisy microphone or sound card on the computer
  • Excessive background noise or chatter
  • Recording volume set too low or too high
  • Microphone placed too close to the mouth
