The deletion of students’ personally identifiable information is required under the FERPA and GDPR. Carnegie Speech provides tools to accomplish this task. These tools are only available to the Local Administrator. The team at Carnegie Speech doesn’t know which student accounts need to be deleted.
-
The Local Administrator role is responsible for deleting student data.
-
There are three states for student account data:
-
Active
-
Deleted - can be undeleted if necessary
-
Permanently Deleted - all data and recordings are deleted and are unrecoverable
-

- To delete student accounts, locate and select Delete Students on the Tools Menu

- The system will display all courses that have enrolled students. The student accounts are shown as Active.

- Pressing the Delete button will remove the selected students from the course and change their state to “Deleted”.
- At this point, the student accounts have been “Deleted” but can be restored.
- Next Step - Permanently Delete

Click on the Deleted checkbox.
To permanently delete all student data and records
- Select the students’ names and click the Permanently Delete button.
- The student data and recordings are permanently deleted and not recoverable.
- This process has been created to comply with FERPA and GDPR privacy requirements.
